Some thoughtsIt is interesting to note that our friends to the south have instituted a mandatory requirement for "all tone, all the time" on their repeaters. CTCSS or DCS will be required to transmit on all SERA-coordinated repeaters. This was done to alleviate interference. I would hope we don't do it here. Despite the very low cost of radios today (You can get an ICOM walkie with tone scan, LCD readout, 5 watts on transmit, a hundred memories, etc. for $114 brand new), there are some youngsters and some seniors on fixed income that cannot bear the expense of a new rig. Requiring a tone to access a repeater is not the only way to alleviate interference. There are other ways. Let's not get carried away! 73,
