Some Thoughts...
It was sad to read of the passing of Chris Walters,
N0HVK, in the explosion at the Connecticut Kleen
Energy Plant. According to the story, some
employees were completing a blow down,
a cleaning of natural gas lines. There was an
explosion and 5 people died. It is obvious to me
that there was a source of ignition, a spark of some
sort of perhaps someone flicked his Bic. As a
long- time member of the Society of Fire Protection
Engineers I can tell you one thing for sure: a fire you
can put out; an explosion you just pick up the pieces.
So be careful when working with gas. Keep all sources
or potential sources of ignition away. Far away. Be Safe…
